The great hope

There are a number of passages in Colossians that describe different aspects of this prize.

Col 1:3-6 The key expression is “the hope laid up for you in heaven”.

As we go along, we will note the words that Paul uses when he talks about this future goal or prize.

Here Paul describes the prize as the HOPE.

The thing that one expects and looks forward to in view of the measures taken to ensure its fulfillment.

Col 1:9-12 the key expression is “has qualified us to share in the inheritance of the saints in Light”.

Here the key word is
INHERITANCE.

Colossians 1:21-23

The key words are HOLY and BLAMELESS and BEYOND REPROACH.

Every saint must appear before Christ at His judgment seat.

2Co 5:9-10

The gospel includes promises whose fulfillment is eagerly anticipated.

Col 1:25-27

It is Christ in you, the hope of GLORY.

Col 1:28-29

Here the key words are
COMPLETE IN CHRIST.

This is the purpose for which Paul labors and strives: to present every man complete in Christ.

It’s the omnipotence of Christ that provides the assurance that allows us to eagerly anticipate receiving the prize.

1Ti 4:10

Col 2:1-3

First, that the hearts of the saints may be encouraged or comforted.

That they may attain to all the wealth that comes from the FULL ASSURANCE of UNDERSTANDING.

The prize is attaining a full knowledge of God’s mystery: Christ.

Three key words here: KNOWLEDGE and MYSTERY and CHRIST.

Do you know ALL the treasures of wisdom and knowledge yet?

Phi 3:7-14
Phi 3:17-21
