However, 53% of evangelicals also say that there is no such thing as absolute truth! Taboo subjects : sin, righteousness, judgment, wrath, hell, the cross, and redemption. What people in the world want is to have their emotional needs and desires met, and to have “awesome”, “life changing” experiences. 2Ti 4:1-5 Bible teaching is OUT; mythmaking is IN.
Where do you end up? With a church that is preaching a different gospel. 2Co 11:3-4 Gal 1:6-7 What people NEED is the truth that they are sinners, and they need a Savior. Salvation comes one way, and that is through the blood of Christ, who died on the cross for our sins. 1Co 15:1-4 There is nothing in the gospel about the American Dream!! Post-modernism has found an effective vehicle to get inside: the emergent church. The vulnerability they exploit is declining church attendance, particularly among our young people.
Nearly two-thirds of evangelicals under thirty-five believe that non-Christians can go to heaven. 76% of evangelicals aged 18-29 do not think that one religion is true and others are not. Among Americans age 18 to 29, 43% do not identify as Christians (Protestant or Catholic). The younger you are, the less likely you are to take the Bible literally, … …or to believe that the Bible is the inerrant word of God, as opposed to a book of moral precepts. Young evangelicals pray less often, The lie is that we have to change how we do things - including our message! - in order to bring more people to Christ.
