The Doctrine of Spiritual Gifts
Point 4.
Developing the capacity you need to function effectively in your spiritual gift.
What is discernment?
Why do we need to have discernment?
How do I get spiritual discernment?
All discernment is performed by the Holy Spirit, using the tools of Bible doctrine already tested and found in the soul, under the exercise of one’s priesthood.
HEB 5:14
But solid food [advanced doctrine] is for the [spiritually] mature, who because of practice [learning and obeying God’s word again and again]…
HEB 5:14
…have their senses trained [have vigorously exercised their souls and human spirits by applying God’s word under the guidance of the Holy Spirit] …
HEB 5:14
…to discern good and evil [resulting in discernment both of the genuine and the counterfeit].
God’s life is to be preferred over knowledge.
The life of God is one thing that satan can’t counterfeit.
The world will use arguments that sound persuasive in order to try to wrestle your soul away from the simplicity of devotion to Christ.
The only reliable knowledge is what you find in your Bibles!
It is the mind of Christ.
Discernment is not for its own sake. It is a tool provided by God to help you make your way through the maze of good and evil back to LIFE!
