EPH 4:11-12

The apostles and prophets were succeeded by the evangelists and Pastor-Teachers.

These men have been given to the church by the LORD Jesus Christ.

EPH 4:11 is the only verse in the New Testament that mentions the gift of evangelists.

The Greek word euaggelistes (yoo-ang-ghel-is-tace') means “a preacher of the gospel”.

The ministry of the evangelist is first to the lost world.

God fills his heart with a love for the lost and places a heavy burden on his heart for their salvation.

ROM 9:1-3

The LORD gives him the ability to proclaim the gospel with freshness, boldness, and power.

EPH 6:19-20

The evangelist makes the issue clear: it is faith in Christ as Savior,
or judgment under
the wrath of God.

1TH 1:5

The evangelist singular - one individual - is mentioned twice.

ACT 21:8

Philip is the only person who is called an evangelist in the New Testament.

2TI 4:1-5

Timothy was not an evangelist, but he did the work of an evangelist.

Let’s examine the work of Philip the evangelist.

ACT 8:1-8
