The spiritual gifts are the LORD’s secret weapon for preserving the unity of the body of Christ.
The spiritual gifts provide spiritual power for serving one another.
Spiritual gifts
Four major passages in the New Testament teach the subject of spiritual gifts.
ROM 12:1-13
1Co 12-14 EPH 4:1-16
1PE 4:7-11
First, we go to these passages to learn the characteristics
of spiritual gifts.
1 Corinthians devotes three chapters to the subject of spiritual gifts.
All three members of the Trinity are involved with the spiritual gifts.
(a) giving the divine gifts, (b) establishing the opportunities to serve others with our gifts,
(c) providing the miraculous power to operate in our gifts, and (d) producing the supernatural results.
a. Divine in origin.
b. Miraculous in manifestation.
c. Supernatural in operation.
The Spirit gives the gifts. He decides which gift each believer receives.
The Lord Jesus Christ governs the ministries in which believers use their gifts.
God the Father determines the effects each ministry will have.
Spiritual gifts are marked by great VARIETY.
