All in the name of Christ Jesus

Arrogance is all about “I”.
Humility is all about “NOT I”.

There are three
“NOT I”s
for our spiritual life.

NOT I BUT SIN.

NOT I BUT CHRIST.

NOT I BUT OTHERS.

1. Hear (or read) the facts.
2. Believe the facts.

3. Think new thoughts based on those facts.
4. Live according to your new thinking.

Not I but Christ. It starts with facts about Christ and about us.

It moves to thinking
a new way.
It leads to living
a new life.

2CO 5:14-15

The NOT I BUT CHRIST attitude bears fruit …when?

when we live lives that are no longer about ourselves but instead are about Christ.

The
NOT I BUT CHRIST life

You died.
Your old man was crucified with Christ.

You have been raised up with Christ.
You are a new creation.

It’s a life where we have put aside the old man and are putting him away.

EPH 4:20-23

It’s a life where we are being renewed in our spiritual mind.

EPH 4:24

It’s a life where we are putting on the new man.

ROM 13:14

The life rests on the facts.

The life of putting away the old man
rests on the fact
that our old man was crucified with Christ.

The life of putting on the new man rests on the facts that we have been raised up with Christ, that Christ is in us,

and our life is hidden with Christ in God.

What does it mean to put away the old man? What does that life look like?

COL 3:8-9

What does the life
of putting on
the new man
look like?
