Christ is Our Life

Phillip James Elliot (1927—1956) was an evangelist and Christian missionary.

From his journal

He is no fool who gives
what he cannot keep
to gain that for which
he cannot lose.

MAR 8:34-35

Elizabeth Elliot

There are three
“NOT I”s
for our spiritual life.

NOT I BUT SIN.

NOT I BUT CHRIST.

NOT I BUT OTHERS.

2. NOT I
BUT CHRIST!

We died with Christ
so that we might be joined together to the resurrected Christ.

GAL 2:19-20

I - my old life as connected with the life of the Old Man:

corrupt, lustful, deceitful, with his evil practices. ( EPH 4:17-22; COL 3:5-9 )

We are dead to sin. Yet we are alive to God in Christ Jesus.

And … and also…. Christ lives in me.
Christ lives in you.

I am living an entirely new life -

a life that was completely foreign to me until the day I believed in Christ.

We can’t live this life by sight.
We have to live it
by faith.

This new life starts with how we think.

This requires a living, active engagement with God’s word.

And I need my mind to be renewed.
I need to be trained how to think right.

COL 3:1-4

Keep seeking means keep thinking.

He made us alive together with Christ,

and raised us up with Him,

and seated us with Him in the heavenly places in Christ.
