The Activity of the Holy Spirit in the lives of Church Age believers, part 6.

Is it the mind of Christ that we must confess our sins (1JO 1:9) or else we will not be filled by the Spirit (EPH 5:18)?

The false teaching that a Christian is incapable of any spiritual life until they confess their sins to God.

The Bible does not say that confessing my sins results in the filling of the Spirit.

The false teaching that a Christian is incapable of any spiritual life until they confess their sins to God.

IF this false doctrine were true, here is a list of things that would be IMPOSSIBLE for you to experience on an uninterrupted basis:

all of those things
would be
impossible for you
every moment you had an unconfessed sin

1JO 4:18

There is no fear in love; but perfect love casts out fear, because fear involves punishment, and the one who fears is not perfected in love.

1. Is it the mind of Christ that we must confess our sins (1JO 1:9) or else we will not be filled by the Spirit (EPH 5:18)?

2. Does God in His word say that a Church Age believer can ever lose fellowship with God -the Father, the Son, the Holy Spirit?

3. Does God in His word say that our sins have been forgiven because of Christ’s death on the cross…or do we have to add confessing our sins to that work in order to be forgiven of our sins?

FILLED BY THE SPIRIT

FELLOWSHIP

FORGIVENESS

JOH 12:44-46
44 And Jesus cried out and said, " He who believes in Me, does not believe in Me but in Him who sent Me. 45 " He who sees Me sees the One who sent Me.

JOH 12:46
46 " I have come as Light into the world, so that everyone who believes in Me will not remain in darkness.

To walk in the Light is to be a believer.

Please notice that the inclusive “we” here - John is addressing his audience and challenging them to observe and classify the behavior of themselves and others in two categories:

two categories:
(1) behavior which is exhibited by the Christian

(2) that which is unchristian behavior.

They are believers , and therefore they have fellowship with God the Father and with His Son the Lord Jesus Christ.

Whosoever believes the Word of Life - the Gospel of Jesus Christ - enters into that same permanent fellowship that John is currently enjoying.

But until now there are some who are believers walking in the Light, and some who remain unbelievers walking in the darkness.

JOH 8:12
Then Jesus again spoke to them, saying, " I am the Light of the world; he who follows Me will not walk in the darkness, but will have the Light of life."

Unbelievers may say they have fellowship with God,
but since they walk in the darkness… they lie.

Believers walk in the Light. Being in the same Light that the Lord is in, we have fellowship with one another, and we see that the blood of Jesus God’s Son cleanses us from all sin.

JOH 8:44
You are of your father the devil, and you want to do the desires of your father. He was a murderer from the beginning, and does not stand in the truth because there is no truth in him.

According to Daniel Wallace, a pre-eminent Greek scholar, there is a 5th class condition in the Greek. You scholars can get more information at "Greek Grammar Beyond the Basics”, page 696.

For the most part this condition is a simple condition; that is, the speaker gives no indication about the likelihood of its fulfillment.

we KNOW the likelihood of its fulfillment is 100%!!!

“God is faithful and righteous.”

Likelihood of fulfillment = 100%

Because NO MATTER WHAT WE DO
The likelihood of fulfillment
is 100%!!!!!

With God He declares it in His will and it IS SO!
