Temporary spiritual gifts
c. The third temporary gift is that of miracles, HEB 2:4
The gift of miracles was the unique ability to accomplish supernatural works of power in order to draw attention to the message.
In ACT 20:6-12, Paul raised Eutychus, the fortunate kid, from the dead.
What must it have been like for the loved ones who brought their dead, their lame, their disturbed out in the desperate hope that they might be healed?
Sometimes we ask, “Why me?”.
Other times, we supply our own answers.
Then the guilt and the shame and the fear pour in.
these people not only brought their loved ones to God’s man …
…they also brought their own personal shame to the apostle - the one who preached Christ.
God wiped out their guilt and shame that day.
It wasn’t the miracle that did it.
It was the message He gave them.
Bring whatever it is about you that you are still most ashamed of to this great big God of ours.
Bring it to the love of God made visible in Christ Jesus.
Have you ever considered the possibility that it is still there, not to condemn you, but instead so that the works of God might be displayed in you?
