Idolatry is man’s placing a visible object of worship before his eyes to protect him from God, thus silencing his conscience that he may indulge his lusts. [William Newell ]
As soon as you move away from God, the kingdom of darkness will supply an idol for you; 2TI 3:3-4.
The Bible uses the analogy of spiritual fornication or adultery to represent idolatry; HOS 4:12.
Idolatry is expressly forbidden by the word of God, in the strongest possible terms, and with total clarity; EXO 20:1-6.
God “gives up” idolaters to their idols; PSA 135:18.
You become like what you worship!
As you continue to worship the one true living God, you become more and more like Christ in His humanity; 2CO 3:18.
God will eventually destroy all idols.
The first thing you need to do is to FLEE! 1CO 10:14
The enduring solution to idolatry is humility, repentance, and renewal; 1PE 5:6-11, GAL 5:16.
Idolatry is a deed of the flesh, and the solution to being trapped in fleshly deeds is to walk by means of the Spirit, GAL 5:16!
