Point 3: What is a “Spiritual Gift”?

What is discernment?

Discernment is being able to determine what is coming from the thinking of Christ and what is coming from doctrines of demons, 1TI 4:1.

The all-important fruit of satan’s pride is the fact that “he does not stand or abide in the truth”.

When a person is energized by evil and lies, there is a powerful force at work to conceal and hide the real wicked motivation at work.

The source of things, the seed, is a kind of wisdom, a kind of doctrine.

There is
the Mind of Christ, and there are doctrines of demons.

We can have the power to discern the thoughts in our own soul, but we do not get the ability to directly discern thoughts in other people’s souls.

The Bible says that, ultimately, only God can discern a person’s heart. PRO 21:2;
1CO 4:1-5

1CH 28:9a
“As for you, my son Solomon, know the God of your father, and serve Him with a whole heart and a willing mind;

1CH 28:9b
“for the Lord searches all hearts, and understands every intent of the thoughts.”

2CH 16:9
For the eyes of the Lord move to and fro throughout the earth that He may strongly support those whose heart is completely His.

JER 17:10
"I, the Lord, search the heart,
I test the mind,

LUK 16:15
And He said to them, “You are those who justify yourselves in the sight of men, but God knows your hearts; for that which is highly esteemed among men is detestable in the sight of God.”

Those believers who operate under the filling of the Spirit and the mind of Christ are MYSTERIES THEMSELVES! Particularly to the unbelieving!!

When it comes to spiritual discernment, the Lord tells us that the way to know the real source of things is by examining the fruit.
