Mary had a special relationship with Jesus in His humanity.
Jesus is the perfect Man as well as fully God.
He was mortal. He could die.
What does it mean to be human?
To be human is to know there is a God - one God.
The Bible identifies the human spirit as this immaterial part that communes directly with God.
To be human is to be capable of loving.
To be human is to have a heart that loves and desires.
a heart that makes moral judgments; chooses and decides.
To be human is to have a soul: an identity. The soul is immaterial.
The soul is the seat of our natural life.
Our soul interacts with the things of this earth.
To be human is to have a mind: to have an intellect.
A mind that learns, thinks, creates, and uses language to communicate.
To be human is to have strength - to have a body: the material part of man.
The body has needs and capabilities. With it we can see, hear, move, embrace, work.
Or as Psalm 8 says it: What is man?
Psalm 8 is cited (without attribution!) in Hebrews chapter 2.
The subject of Hebrews chapter 2 is the humanity of Jesus.
