to be a friend to (fond of [an individual or an object]), that is, have affection for (denoting personal attachment, as a matter of sentiment or feeling;

fraternal affection: - brotherly love (kindness), love of the brethren.
MAT 5:44 "But I say to you, love your enemies and pray for those who persecute you,
